Andy is plugging a fanfic Meg wrote for Critical Role on his Twitter. This feels so slimy to me. People searching for Critical Role fic can still find and interact with him, but he can say, "I'm not engaging in fandom! I'm just supporting a friend!" He also tagged the official account.

So much for that.

The more he couches his behaviors in the mantel of being the best friend who ever friended, the more worried I am for not only his close associates who will be picking up thepeieces of their lives when he melts down but the new younger folks that come into his orbit.

Actually, is it odd that the longer I think about this the more bizarre an act I find this?

I can imagine sharing a random fic you found because you thought it was cool. I can imagine maybe sharing your own fic because you wanted feedback. But sharing your best friends fic? Because it needed plugs? That's...weird...? Especially tagging in the CR crew?

Something about that indicates to me not a desire to get Meg plugs but almost a desire to shame her for her fic. How can I put this...most people in theory like the idea of the creators reading their fic, but if you actually *said* to them, "I've got the creator on the other line, he wants to read your fic, is it a go?" they'd probably say "No" because it would be really kind of horrifying.

Tl;dr: I don't think Andy is plugging Meg. I think he's trying to embarrass her.

I have no idea what happened to them, but my guess is that with Andy paring down his friends list we're likely not going to see that much information again, since anons will be much more identifiable. People (who may or may not have been WN?) used to occasionally pop in here to post about Andy and Meg, too, but it seems like for the most part people are just keeping an eye on public social media posts.

Just speculating, really. Don't take this as fact. Though: If anyone does know where WN is, probably don't post it, since Andy and co lurk.

I'm worried about Meg and the cats at this point. Andy seems to be going into some kind of emotional spiral. Im worried enough where I wish someone could reach out to Meg, but I just dont know what to do... but I find this post to be pretty disturbing...

Sometimes I can make myself make something, but not any of the things I'm supposed to. I've been trying to fake it til I make it and maybe tomorrow and small steps and just create something even if it's not the "right" thing and none of it is working. I've been to student mental health and there's nothing more they can do if I'm not suicidal. I feel like there's no point in anything and like I'm a fraud and a failure. Meg doesn't deserve this. The only reason I haven't had a complete breakdown and fucked off and disappeared is because I can't do that to her and my parents.

This may be a time for someone to reach out to Meg and even Andy parents....I don't think this type of environment is healthy. I'm worried for all involved, even him. And Andy, if this is how you feel and you are reading this, please seek help. I thought you said you had a mental health team? Please reach out. If you are truly feeling this way and causing an unhealthy environment for your pets, you need to ask for help. I just think something needs to be done. This is not right.

I think another reason Andy and other narrative creating fakers keep doing what they do is the dopamine hit it gives them when they manipulate people and have them hanging on their every dramatic word. The process is it's own reward for them. Add to that someone with low empathy - the way they see other people as fodder in their own mythos, not as agents in their own right.... and probably a stronger than average need for stimulation and you get the scammers who scam for the sake of it.

Why choose the uncomfortable option to stop, reflect and change when when you can just dive into another gratifying LARP and drag some new NPCs into it?

I think it's interesting that fictional characters don't get to have boundaries; we frequently know their inner thoughts and feelings and they're expendable, to be re-written, killed off of put aside for a chapter as required by the author. Is this how some abusers such as Andy approach the people around them - just as characters without autonomy and rights and independent agency?

I've experienced first hand the narc rage that happens when you don't follow the script they have for you in their own mind.

Andy tweeted volunteering discounts to help sex workers get into cosplay, you know, despite his numerous promises he was done with fandom. He then followed it up by posting a picture of half-naked Meg in a dwarf costume. Hopefully it doesn't get a lot of reach. If anyone in the sex work community can share warning posts, it would probably help. A struggling sex worker does not need to depend on a manipulator like Andy for assistance.

I'm sure he claims he simply is just trying to do his part to be helpful. What's next, though? Offering discounts to Parkland students for fanart commissions? Come on, Andy. Donate to a sex worker advocacy organization or something and keep fandom out of it.

Okay, so I am not a professional seamstress or highly skilled sewing person, but I was taught stitchery of all kinds- hand and machine sewing, embroidery, mending- by my grandmother and aunt, who *were* pretty expert seamstresses, and my mother, who had a good foundation in basic stitchery and made many of our clothes when my family was young (many children, few dollars, homemade clothing). But I have been stitching for 40+ years; I've made basic clothes, curtains, quilts, table linens; I'm not a cosplayer and have never done fabrication but I've done detailed & elaborate embroidery and beading projects.

And to my eye... Andrew's skills are... okay, but not great.

So can any more qualified nonnies comment on my impression? Seen pictures of work up close or in person, seen more of the work than I admittedly have? Nonnies who do cosplay or costuming or more skilled sewing than I do and can address whether what they see of the work is decent, excellent, or just meh?

Or point me in a direction where it's been discussed? I remember postings that discussed the "drawings" that was pretty interesting.

Andrew is supposed to be graduating soon, right? And looking for work in the industry? Are the chances good of finding a place?

He's adequate. Better than some in the cos-play community but OK for professional work.

He even admits this ""My technical skills are good, but I can always keep learning on those and it's not hard to set a dart." So he has the basics down to the point that he is passing his classes.

What he wants to do is work in film like on a Marvel Movie or a tv show like Game of Thrones.

The current plan is to go to LA and find work there. I hope he has his union card in order. He would have a better chance in Atlanta where it is a right to work state.

Here's the conundrum about working in the industry (this is theater, film and television), if we need a skill set the employee needs to walk in with it. We don't have time to teach it. The assumption is that if I hire you as a cutter draper, you are walking in with the full skill set as a cutter draper so I can show you what needs to be done and you do it.

Interships are where we teach people how we do what we do and those don't pay or you get about bus fare.

If I was still working in film and he came in for a position and said"What I'm really good at is taking the rules and the aesthetic and the idea of a universe and working inside it. If you give me some key art and a concept I can extrapolate and make you 30 more space mercenaries or fantasy world dwellers or whatever who will be fully realized individuals and still fit seamlessly in the whole.""

It would be a thank you but no thank you. I am not hiring you as a designer but as an executer of the design which has already been created. Designers get very twitchy about someone changing or 'extrapolating' their vision. I have had individuals on my crew that thought that they could added to what we were doing. They were not asked back. I have anywhere from 50 to 100 people to dress between the leads and the chorus and I need people who can stick to the plan as given to us by the designer.

Now the other thing is that those jobs in the industry are sought after. Most of the people hired fall basically into two categories. People who know someone who gives them an in but they have a very short time frame to sink or swim before being evaluated or people who are known in the industry because of their portfolio and shows they have worked on. One of the best fabric manipulators I know got snatch up from under me for a film because of their work in theater was what they needed for that film. The designer had seen their work in a show they designed for at the theater.Still miss him.

Can he get a job in the industry? Sure. I think his skills will land him somewhere for a time.

The real question is can he be a small cog in a large machine and be happy? From everything I have read is that he goes into these things gungho and lots of enthusiasm until he is told no or gets bored and he gets bored quickly. If he feels his creative skills aren't being used he finds other reasons why the job isn't working for him. The excuses we have heard over the years sound like a broken record.

If he can swallow his pride and keep his head down, he might make it but I am not going to take that bet.

EVERYONE PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Don't assume that because no one posts openly about calling that they haven't. It makes more sense for people NOT to confirm they've called. That may allow Andy and Meg to do panic cleaning to conceal how they're generally living, after which they may allow the house to fall back in squalor.

I may call again in the future if there's more info/evidence, but this is the last time I will be publically confirming I've contacted animal welfare authorities.

I am wondering if Andy has any history of warping physical disability narrations for people or speaking about such? I just read this tweet of his: https://twitter.com/AndrewMBlake/status/995075731754450945?s=20 and yeah ... loved the trampling on Meg's right to speak about her own issues (if she did allow him to, it still reads weirdly).

It does potentially explain cat problems but still does not validate the way they go around solving them (or rather not solving). Essentially - my mobility sounds quite similar to Meg's so it can be hard to do some tasks even if I done them before: joints and muscles can cock up any time they want and their state varies. However, I would first take care of my dependants and if I could not - would find a way to do so or for someone to do it (in her case ... Andy).

Irrelevant to the cats - tweet still makes me seethe because of course he has to be the one suffering here. People can be idiots or just ignorant just not up to the one doing caring to point them out for extra anxiety and narrative hogging (unless permissions are given or it is a person who you trust to do so in your place).
