continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

Yeah, and at the risk of sounding like a person with a grudge, it's also a relief to have a discussion space where shit isn't constantly being frozen based on something somebody said three posts back that you might not even know about. I generally am very in favor of FFA's firm anti-asshole stance, but I think in recent Thanfiction discussion they've been letting their own exhaustion with the topic get in the way of common sense. Like I can see how you would get from 'the last time someone criticized this person it erupted into transwank' to 'immediately freeze comments on this person' but to say it's assuming bad faith on everyone's parts is putting it mildly.

Overall I love FFA, but TF discussion is not something it has ever done well. This isn't the first time the subject has been banned, and the fast freezing of non-wanky comments is getting way OTT.

and while we're on the subject of grudges I will never not be annoyed that Winterfox wank is given room to flourish on every post and is never banned but just after the ex-Daydians spoke out TF talk became ~exhausting

It's pretty clear that at least one FFA mod is really into the WF wank, just based on the lack of objectivity.

I remember back in the day a couple years ago when the LJ meme banned Andy discussion for a couple posts because it was thought that Andy was likely reading there and tailoring statements on his tumblr in response to our discussion...yet now that precedent of freezing discussion in that circumstance is being ignored despite WF obviously reading and reacting to FFA threads.

I don't disagree with WF wank not being frozen - in fact I think the FFA threads have been actively great and productive! I still disagree with the previous decision to freeze Andy discussion back then, though, and I disagree with the decision to do it now there as well.

My longterm conspiracy theory is that astolat is one of the Sunnies, which would explain why WF wank is allowed, her being a part of the SF/F publishing world and all.

Yeah, the fact the rules are different when it's WF just makes me sideeye the rest of their decisions too.

I have no interest whatsoever in Winterfox. Yet every new post there is a thread about her. I just scroll on by. Somehow, there being a thread about her every post is ok with the admins, but TF is just a shade too far. Forget about it, I'll just post here.
