Gloves Off

Please use this post for discussion of those contentious, murky, triggering issues too complex to discuss/moderate on the main post.

Note that this post is NOT a free-for-all and will still be modded for slurs, namecalling, doxxing and trolling. But fair warning that it will not be moderated for discussion of issues some find triggering (trans issues, mental illness, etc.) and that if you choose to participate here, you do so at your own risk.

The case anon describes above, of a doctor sharing details of a patient who just called, does seem a bit shadier -- if the doctor took the call in the same room and you recognized the voice on the other end of the line, for instance

He gets calls every so often, either about patients he sees in his private practice, or from the hospital where he works part time. He always answers directly on the phone (no speakers, ever), and the patient's chairs where I sit on the other side of his desk are way too far to hear anything being said by the person on the other end of the line. He's also got loads of practice in using only non-identifying terms ("he", "she", "the treatment", "the family", stuff like that). And of course, he always tries to keep these conversations as short as possible. I've been seeing him every two weeks for almost 3.5 years, and he's never come even close to giving me any kind of information which could allow me to identify one of his patients. So really, people, no need to worry.
