Re: The "It's About Power" website

Well said.

What also stands out to me is that TF coming out with the glib little statement "its about power" as if thats the whole explanation for domestic violence sets him up as an authority on the subject.*He's* set himself up in a position of...uh, power as the controller of this debate, he's defining what abuse is about. And not only that, he positions himself above the abused- he's the white knight saving them with his wonderful insight.

And if that list of suggestions anon describes was part of the site...FFS don't give abusers the time, effort and attention of trying to educate them on how not to abuse. That's just so insulting! We all know assaulting other people is wrong and we have the law to deal with the few who disregard that. I feel like trying to explain their behaviour and make us empathise with them (ie. they want to feel empowered) is something only someone with a mindset like TB would do. In andyland attention and 'character development' are rewards, he's rewarding the abusers.

Ugh, I'm not explaining myself well here. It's late and the subject is too close to home for me. Suffice to say I agree with other anons who get the vibe this site was more about/for abusers.
