(Anonymous) 2019-07-12 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)Basically, Andy befriended a very sweet, kind chick in LA online- she also has a semi-large internet following and has a lot of friends who have even bigger followings. He convinced her that he was just a normal, CIS guy who had been involved in fandom drama including “a hobbit cult” but that it was all just silly kid stuff, nothing serious, ignore the tinhats, etc. He gave her a VERY VERY abridged version of events that painted him as a woobie and completely absolved him of blame, just enough information to keep her from looking deeper.
Basically, he had permission to stay at her house in LA for either one or two weeks, I can’t remember, while his housing was sorted out. He also claimed to have a full time job as a costumer. He ended up staying for a MONTH. His job was also only a one-shot. Not regular employment. While he was there, he said disgustingly sexist, transphobic and homophobic things- because remember, he told them he was CIS. Then he used manipulative ass behavior to get her and her friends to forgive him- like painting her a picture of her dead dog. He was a terrible house guest, trashing his room and other spaces. He did really creepy things. He told people he had permission to stay either indefinitely or for the whole summer, which was a lie.
Basically, he was setting up a new Posse...only this group got wise to his bullshit a lot quicker. A friend of his landlord found all the proof of his behavior online and sent it to her. She immediately had her spouse tell Andy to leave, right now, no question, no bullshit.
He left. Then he sicced his guard dog (one of a defected Virginia Posse’s ex husband Chris) on them. Chris blew up their facebooks with vitriol and victim blaming, vouching for Andy in really gross ways. He even created an ENTIRE Facebook page that was dedicated to defending Andy.
It went about as well as you think.
There’s soooo much more to the situation, including the fact that Andy was trying to use his friendship with his landlord to get a foot in the door with the Critical Role cast, as she was friends with them.
He hasn’t changed, he just picked a group to infiltrate and manipulate and bit off more than he could chew, because they had a very close knit, real life relationship that he couldn’t pull the strings on.
I suggest looking into the write ups about it, my summary is severely lacking.
