Please use this post for discussion of those contentious, murky, triggering issues too complex to discuss/moderate on the main post.
Note that this post is NOT a free-for-all and will still be modded for slurs, namecalling, doxxing and trolling. But fair warning that it will not be moderated for discussion of issues some find triggering (trans issues, mental illness, etc.) and that if you choose to participate here, you do so at your own risk.

I was evicted, having not bathed in weeks, my fridge a soup of maggots, no utilities, fired from my job.
Fruit flies:
Andy posted an image of a sink full of dead fruit flies as proof of his mental illness. Or something. Anyone have a link?

it’s a good week if I shower twice and change clothes three times and do laundry once a month, that my room is disgusting and there are literally hundreds of dead fruit flies on my sink and I don’t even know why and can’t make myself find out and it can take me three weeks to make a phone call or answer a text and I haven’t worked out in five months and the novel I love with all my heart is STILL on hold after three fucking years of swearing I’m about to finish it and my to-do list reads like damnation and a lot of other things that I’m just fucking ashamed of and no, I don’t really want to spread out in front of strangers.
Re: Peter Pandy
(Anonymous) 2015-04-19 02:40 am (UTC)(link)Andy was:
1. pretending to have schizophrenia
2. trying to get into a GISHWHES team, even though he had very badly abused the one he had been with the year before
3. blaming said past abuse on having suffered a psychotic break because he'd "forgotten" to take his meds in the flurry of tasks to fill.
In order to prevent another team from being victimized by him, those of the AA blogs who have knowledge regarding psychosis went on the offensive, and pointed out that the three items above mean that he should absolutely NOT do GISHWHES again so soon.
Somewhere in the discussion, they mentioned that it's not suspicious at all how he doesn't seem to have any of the usual functioning impairments that people with schizophrenia suffer from.
He then posted a collection of pics, including one where pill bottles can be seen, and another one of a sink with a handful of dead fruit flies in it. He also posted a request for someone to come and help him clean his place, which was supposedly in a terrible state.
And then there's the post mentioned here where he explains that his Speshul Snowflake Schizophrenia doesn't work like other people's schizophrenia. In particular, he can *totally* afford to do something which supposedly caused him to have a psychotic break a year ago, because this year it will be Good Stress instead of Bad Stress.
This was one of the rare battles that the AA blogs actually won. Andy didn't find a GISHWHES team. He *pretended* to, but the team he belonged to was not a registered GISHWHES team: it was just him and a couple of his friends doing a few items so he wouldn't have to admit defeat.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 05:37 am (UTC)(link)And I'm kind of adverse to the idea of preemptively warning celebrities about Andy. If we see any evidence that he's reaching out to Ruffalo? Sure, a heads-up with some relevant links would be appropriate. But I'd rather avoid pointing Andy out and getting him the (negative) celebrity attention before we know he's making moves.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-20 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)It just provides Andy and his defenders with fodder to cry "witchhunt" and "persecution" over. Better to wait.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-19 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)Maggots in the fridge? Nope. Not unless the power was turn off for a while. I have been finally cleaning out my fridge and even the really gross stuff in the very back? Maggot free.
I have had maggots in my trash once. But that was from meat in the trash can for...a while.
And it makes your depression worse and it makes you more ashamed and most people do not take pictures and tell the internet. I have used vague terms of my place being 'gross', but it's not -- ugh.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-19 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)I've lived in a house with cockroaches and it's a literal would-never-admit-unanon thing because I still don't know if they were there because we lived on top of a cafe, if they were there because my housemate didn't clean his room, or if they were there because of me. And I wasn't even seriously mentally ill at the time.

(Anonymous) 2015-04-19 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)I worked at a wildlife center that attracted a fair number of flies. We got maggots in the garbage once or twice, but never, ever in the fridge... and it was not a clean fridge with food meant for human consumption. Nothing was out and out rotting, but we got old produce from stores and expired meat and disgusting-smelling eggs.
(I saw a fair number of maggots outside, though. When putting out raw meat for the animals in heat of summer, even if you collect the remains first thing in the morning the next day, you will see fly eggs if not maggots.)
Bringing it back to Andy: in order to get maggots in a fridge, you need an adult fly to actually get inside to lay eggs. Or you need to leave something out so long flies actually have a chance to lay eggs on it. Fly eggs are visible though, especially when they're in clusters. They look like tiny grains of rice stood on one end.
If the fridge is working, I'm not entirely sure it would be warm enough for the eggs to develop. You definitely wouldn't get maggots hatching in a working freezer.
Most fridges have a working magnet seal that prevents flies getting in even if the power's off. One would need to sneak in when the door was opened, or like I said, put food with fly eggs on it inside. Once they hatch, maggots move and grow very quickly and get ALL over the place.
I guess it's possible that a mentally ill person wouldn't notice or care, though.
