Yeah, the group only really caught on because the lies were so obvious. The liar was very young so half of the reason they were laughed at rather than called out is everyone thought they'd grow out of it. The other half was the lies themselves were annoying but harmless. They were outlandish and ridiculous and self-aggrandizing, told to make the liar look as good/cool as possible. Had the liar lied like Andy, about abuse or to cause rifts between friends, or disrupt the wider social circle, I think people would have responded differently.

It's noteable that Andy lies in both the immature, attention-seeky way *and* the deeply manipulative way. It's that that makes him simultaneously pathetic and dangerous.

I had no idea that befriending Winjennster was a way for Andy to gain a short-cut to SPN fandom status, nor what the friendship dynamic was between Jenn and Meg and how Andy affected it. There are obvious, undeniable parallels with what he attempted with Molly there. What a lucky escape she's had!

I've got a relative who is a compulsive liar, and yeah, it's very easy to mentally default to "Oh, she misremembered" or "oh, maybe she's talking about something else?", especially when the lies are about things that are so goddamn stupid. We expect people to lie to us when there are obvious benefits to lying, but when the only "benefits" are the weird mental adrenaline rush someone gets from having lied and FOOLED EVERYONE WITH THEIR CLEVER DECEPTION or whatever is going on in the head of a compulsive liar? That's harder to guard against, because you have to constantly be going, "Okay, is that true, is that half-true, is that mostly a lie but with a grain of truth, is that true but it happened to someone else" etc. etc. etc. during every conversation.

I don't Facebook so rely on posts/screengrabs to be updated on what's being said over there so...what's the latest? Has there been any recent comment on the Andy FAQ page? What's Chris' response to Molly's Q&A?

nothing. chris & co seem to have gone into hiding.

I have actually wondered whether the recent thread on Gloves Off might not be Andy's way of punishing him for defending him the "wrong" way. It's so out of nowhere, irrelevant to the discussion and humiliating. And it seems like it wasn't public info until now.

Have I understood this right...your longtime friend who told you about Andy's past actually knew Andy from way back through LotR fandom? Does that mean they knew Andy when he was presenting as Amy or Jordan?

I thought something similar. That or the more information that is coming out about L.A the more Chris is wavering in his belief of Andy's version of events and the Gloves Off thread would be an effective way of getting Chris back on side. "No, look, see how they're using deeply personal information about you to attack you as well! We're in this TOGETHER!"

I'd never heard that information about him before either, which makes its sharing and the timing of that sharing all the more suspicious.

SA: I just went and read that comment again, and the poster uses the phrase "poor [...] consent" at the end there. I can't find it right now, but I remember someone pointing out (and taking issue with) Andy's use of the phrase "bad consent" in describing his past behavior. Hmm.

good point. I also commented questioning the agenda of the person sharing that info. it is just the sort of thing andy would do to punish someone, or deflect from himself. I'm quite sure wherever andy is, he is far from distressed - he is furious. I have been wondering why chris has gone silent and if he has been questioning andy. it's getting harder and harder for him to spin all the new info.

I see no-one has clued you in to the mouse and rabbit he let die through neglect, and the cats whose overflowing litter box he will ignore for days in favour of playing mobile games on his phone.

Would a mod be able to cross-check this post with the post that asked for screenshots of Molly's text conversations with her friends?

Both requests are asking for real life proof -- texts, footage -- from the situation, which is exactly what Chris et al were demanding so aggressively. Both posts also don't use capitalisation which seems suspiciously coincidental. I think it's possible that Andy, Chris or another follower is using the anonymity of tf-talk to get the "proof" they so desperately want by these means as their previous tactics didn't work.
