Gritting my teeth and skimming through the tf archives, and...

Can we talk about how Andy's writing style hasn't changed since he was a young teenager? I want to know if anyone else is as creeped out by that as I am.

At least he doesn't call women lasses anymore. That may well have been his worst crime against lotr fandom.

A while back I was curious enough to start reading DAYD and, I don't know if it's because I already know who the author is, but I just couldn't get past more than a few chapters. There's something cold and condescending about his writing, and it's as if the narrative itself is talking down to you. That, coupled with the purple prose, awful OOCness and impossible to ignore sexism and I just had to nope out, curiousity aside. It really is awful. And looking at his stats, it's pretty clear it was never as popular as he liked to claim it was. If I was him, I'd put it aside as a product of its time (at least that's the excuse I'd use) and put as much distance between myself and it as humanly possible. But I don't think Andy's ego will allow him to do this and it's going to come back and bite him in the ass, especially considering he likes to posture as a SJW and that fic is FULL of isms.

Yes! I think this is what makes everything Andy writes so impossible for me to read. There's something calculated and disdainful about the style he uses, whether in fiction or otherwise.

Well they're both sociopaths/narcissists, so it makes sense. As much as they try to mimic real passion and emotion, it will always read as cold.

It was SO PURPLE. I thought DAYD was pretty bad, but then I tried reading Sluagh (or however it's spelled) and Jesus, that was actually unreadable. The further he gets from JKR, the worse the fic is, which must drive him crazy since he thinks he's so much better than she is.

I remember him calling her lazy. I think he resents the fact that she's basically living his dream, getting rich by writing stories and getting tons of attention and praise.

It's the same with his art, at least the stuff he actually draws himself. He can't admit to himself that he's not THE BEST EVER, which means he'll never improve.
