Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

I didn't want to be the one to start that wank, but hell no are multiple systems not 100% proven to exist.

They exist in the sense that "demonic possession" exists. It's a thing that people actually claim happens or believe happens. It has NOT been proven that anyone is actually possessed by a non-corporeal, malicious entity.

There is no known mechanism in the human brain where can have multiple consciousnesses running at one time, like multiple programs on a computer, with one talking and eating and living life while others are still conscious and observing in the background.

If it did exist, you would expect that these different "consciousnesses" would be using different parts of the brain, depending on what they were "doing" or thinking about or experiencing. A human being with more than one consciousness would have a brain that lit up like a circuit board during neuroimaging. But it doesn't happen.

Multiple systems are like people who believe they are possessed. They may really believe it, or there may be mental illness involved. But there is no evidence it actually exists as an observable phenomenon, and plenty that it doesn't.

There's no wank to be had, because whether multiple systems exist or not is ultimately irrelevant to the matter of Andy's abuse.

- Either multi systems don't exist, in which case Andy's claims of multiplicity are groundless to begin with.

- Or multiplicity exists, in which case Andy's descriptions of how his system works are so far removed from how other multi systems work that the only possible conclusion to be reached is that he's lying about having ever been multi.

No need to waste any time or energy discussing the existence or not of multiplicity. Whether it exists or not, Andy is not multi, which is all we need to be concerned about in this community, I would think.
