continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

He claims here that someone gave his fic to the actors against his wishes: http://fanficrants.livejournal.com/7541770.html

Given Seamus's actor is actually Irish, I can't imagine him reacting positively to Andy's "masterpiece".

Seriously, nothing but respect, and forgive me for bumping you a touch north and taking your hair down a few shades; you know you sound it enough, and I wanted the contrast with Matt, who would look like a complete idiot if you blonded him out at all.

What? Does anyone else understand what he's trying to say here re: Seamus?

I think he's saying that in the fic he wrote him as taller and with a darker hair color because he wanted the hair color to contrast with Matthew Lewis', and Matthew Lewis would look stupid with lighter hair.

Which is stupid to begin with, and also such a strange, obfuscated way to phrase it. I'm thinking that Andy thinks he's sounding conversationally Irish, but really he just sounds confusing.

So that's Andyspeak for "the lighter haired man"

Even his epithets are overlong word salad.

I always assumed the reason Andy gave DAYD Seamus lighter hair (and please note I've only seen the artwork rather than read the story) was because it was described in the HP books as being "sandy". So while the DAYD Seamus is obviously physically based on the actor from the HP movies Devon Murray (for ease of tracing maybe?) Andy gave him the book canon hair colour.

Weaver of word magic, indeed.

I assume the bit about taking him a touch north means making the character more Northern Irish than he's written/played? "You sound it enough" sounds like a comment on his accent.
