Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

As an irresponsible person who can lock onto fandom stuff for long, extended periods of time when it's stimulating/when I really want to give someone a gift/when I'm inspired, bipolar disorder is by no means necessary. Just a TON of caffeine and brightly-backlit devices. (And of course I crash later, because sleep debt catches up with me.)

It's nothing to do with a general state of hyperactivity and everything to do with what will make my brain's reward system function for a while. In Thanfiction's case, that's whatever can be used to fish for fresh victims or keep old ones on the hook.

Regardless of the exact specifications, Thanfiction only does things when it serves Thanfiction, Thanfiction has no remorse for his actions nor hesitation to go right onward and commit fresh atrocities in interpersonal relations, and Thanfiction is dim enough to think that his painfully stilted fics, painfully pretentious non-fic writings, and painfully posed tracings* are going to launch him forever into the annals of the most exhausted BNFdom, if only those wretched, awful, mean, nasty detractors would go away and leave him to bait new prey. That's a sufficient diagnosis of something from my point of view, and a diagnosis of what is secondary.

*To say nothing of "painfully sung filks"... *shudder*

LBR here, if he had bipolar then his downtimes would tell him that his writing and art is shit, just like happens to other sufferers, but he doesn't even have an edge of defiance to his pride, at any time, ever. The wretched, awful, mean, nasty detractor is never his own head.

Can you do two hours of sleep a night for almost a week or thirteen hours straight? Just curious, because that's what Andy will admit to on his blog, and I'm willing to bet if he'll admit to that, he does worse.

Abbey mentioned he regularly kept her awake all night to mess with her head, I know that. Seems like it did nothing to curb his channeling or cult-activity.

See, my instinct is that if he'll admit to something, the reality is much different but could go in either direction.

I think this is true, but Abbey has confirmed he regularly stayed up all night creating alter "emergencies" for her to deal with.

There is that. He was younger then, though.

Okay, definitely not. On the other hand, because it's Thanfiction, I... honestly don't know how much to believe.

Fair point. I didn't realize he was claiming THAT level of lack of sleep.

I'm more inclined to believe it simply because Andy isn't trying to push a diagnosis with it. If anything, he brags about how little sleep he needs and how naughty!tee-hee! it is for him to stay up until 4 AM writing some crummy DAYDverse commentary.

He does post things in the wee hours of the morning and has stayed up all night on skype calls, so I'd believe it.

Eh, he's claimed he took a claymore to the chest and at one point to have grown a magical penis. I don't take his claims of bodily endurance too seriously. Maybe its mania but maybe its just embellished common boring old insomnia. Or just, you know... bullshit.

I do believe he used sleep deprivation as a control tactic, though.

What makes me wonder about is how he managed to get Abbey to suffer the effects of sleep deprivation with no noticeable change (that she mentioned) to his productivity or channeling behavior or crazy cult activity.

I mean, keeping track of 160+ alters and their lives while portraying them to others with as much "realism" as possible cannot be easy at the best of times.

I think it's more likely that he's just one of those individuals who doesn't need much sleep. Even with mania, the need to sleep catches up eventually, usually in a crash of the type he doesn't seem to suffer from at all.

Yeah, I agree. My mom only sleeps for ~3 hours a night and she's always been like that with no ill effects. When I was little, I used to suspect she was a vampire...lol.

The way I see it, he's bragging about being able to sleep so little. I suspect the truth is that he doesn't need much sleep to begin with, and he sleeps during the day, when his victims are busy with work or school.

This is what I assume as well
also it's not like lack of sleep will have Consequences for him - he can coast on coffee and fake the rest (he doesn't have responsibilities at which to fail through lack of sleep, is what I mean)
