continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

To be honest, the fact that he thinks the world can be split up between 'people who like fluffy romance' and 'people who like edgy grimdark nonsense' is ridiculous.

It's also, like... you think people can't push characters to particular limits without physical torture? You think the only way to see a character under strain is to send them to war and put them through untold gratuitous violence? And did it never occur to you that the people who want to wrap up their faves and take care of them are having that reaction because canon has already shown them how those characters react to pressure?

I don't think it's creepy that he wants to see what happens to characters when they're pushed to their limits - that's a principle of drama I can get behind. But he can't seem to help but be condescending.

And seriously, if he thinks the ~traditional fandom participant doesn't have any interest in seeing characters suffer, I have a beautiful tortured bridge to sell him.
