continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

"Severely paranoid delusional schizophrenic spectrum disorder" has disappeared from Andy's FAQ

Looks like the AA blogs have cured Andy of "severely paranoid delusional schizophrenic spectrum disorder". I notice his claims of his illness being under control with meds and not hallucinating/dissociating for 20 months are also gone.

From about age 16 to just under two years ago, I was, bluntly, batfuck crazy. It’s been diagnosed as a form of paranoid schizophrenia closely related to DID (which my psychiatrist thinks in and of itself is a schizoid disorder) and is responding very, very well to medication and treatment.

He links to it in the FAQ. It's just one step removed.

I think it's worth pointing out that paranoid schizophrenia at least exists (putting aside his other claims about it), whereas "severely paranoid delusional schizophrenic spectrum disorder -- or it's earlier incarnation, "severely paranoid delusional schizoid spectrum disorder -- are Andy's personal inventions.

Aaaaargh. DID is not related to paranoid schizophrenia. That's like saying, "I have a form of diabetes closely related to cancer (which my doctor thinks is an insulin disorder)." It makes NO SENSE. NONE. No mainstream line of therapy believes DID is a schizoid disorder! It's bunk!

I mean, I know everyone knows about this already, just... *goes and screams into pillow*

This "schizophrenic spectrum disorder" is itself a revision of an even earlier post, where he claimed to have "schizoid spectrum disorder".

The thing is, schizophrenia spectrum disorder is a thing, but it's a thing that means you haven't crossed the threshold into symptoms serious enough to diagnose schizophrenia.

He has so little understanding of how these things work that it's embarrassing, but it's also the Nigerian Prince Scam: the people who take the excuses are the ones he wants.
