continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

I feel weird asking this but can we get an ip ban on Meg? If only to protect her from Andy and right now, herself?

This is weird, and it's uncalled for, IMHO.

It's also impossible to do, other than a mod sitting there reading every comment and manually screening any that match the IP of Meg's signed comments. Dreamwidth doesn't offer an IP banning option (nor does LJ or any of its other clones); the only thing you can ban is an actual account.

I don't think that's the best way to go forward (even putting aside how complicated it is on DW).

It's a weird situation, having an ongoing TF discussion with his roommate frequently popping in. I agree with nonnies who say that Meg should comment a bit less, for the benefit of free discussion. Or, she should at least be aware that frequently reassuring us that Andy's behaving well is not accomplishing what she thinks it is.

We all know that this is a public forum, and I think most of us are used to navigating the pros and cons of the public anon format. I do think that Meg ought to have the option of coming in and responding when she feels she needs to. She's free to say her piece; we're free to agree or disagree. As long as everything remains civil and on-topic, we're good. Same goes for anyone who identifies themselves when posting. The only person I'd rather not see post here is TF himself, and even then I have confidence that nonnies would handle the situation with aplomb.

Note to self -- when catching up on the comm after a week away, remember to read up on Gloves Off too. I'm less in favor of Meg posting here than I was when I made the above comment.

I agree, though I still don't want to see an outright ban on her posting.

Agreed. I'm still in favor of basically everything I'd said in my comment. I'm just less enthusiastic about Meg posting here after reading her tumblr post.

I'm pretty dismayed, to put it lightly, that things escalated enough that TB has bowed out for now. I feel like that gif with the guy who comes back with pizza to find the party in flames :(

In the current atmosphere it's almost a guarantee that any Meg posts will be directed to Gloves Off.
