Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

Andy's claim that he can not only actually shoot a bow and arrow but is training to be on an olympic team for it is hilarious to me.

And he's inspired a dozen kids to take archery lessons!

Amazing that he'd believe he had time for the Olympics, considering that at that point he was engaged full time in his delusional world-saving.

Maybe he trained for the Olympics on his mental illness's day off?

Ugh that snip at Abbey is really mean and manipulative. Who else thinks he was the cause of the public relationship fights?

Abbey comes off as sweet, classy and professional. I'm sure the photographer felt bad for her being stuck with that liar.

Why the British Olympic team? Not the Irish?

Or are we in for a round of "I'm Scottish" soon?

Well, he ws Orlando Bloom at the time. Or Frodo. Or Elijah Wood. Or a Penesieve Kid. Can't keep track. Not Irish yet.

I was mostly disturbed by the threatening people with arrows bit. I know he is trying to sound "tough" or edgy or something, put threatening people with weapons (Even pretend ones) is never the way to do that.

And don't forget the machismo: he's threatened other characters at bow-and-arrow point! What a ridiculous creep he is.

Pfft, yeah, and I'm "training" to be a Victoria Secret model. The odds of it happening, however...

It's worth noting, though, that anyone in training for the olympics has already made the team - so Andy is literally claiming there that he's on the British olympic archery team and would be competing in the next summer olympics. He's not just saying it's a dream or goal of his, he's saying it's a current accomplishment, which makes it even more absurd!

In fairness, he claims to be "trying out for the Olympics", not training for them. Probably because being on the team would be verifiable.

Still shows a shocking ignorance about the many steps involved in becoming an Olympic athlete. It's not just talented amateur+ independent practice=medal.

To be fair, I don't think most of the world knows how one makes the Olympic team.

The only reason I have an inkling is that one of my high school friends was hella good at track.

But also, most of the world doesn't lie about their prospects for making the Olympic team. At least, not in print.

It's FAR more than a matter of "to be fair". It's literally how Andy keeps getting away with all his lies, no matter how ridiculous: by betting on 2 simple facts:

1. that most people he talks to don't know more than he does;

2. that people who know better (or think they know better) won't dare contradict him because who would lie about something like that?

It doesn't matter whether people know better about anything than Andy does, because either way, they won't contradict him. And if they do speak up against him (like for example when the Caps talk about psychosis), they are not believed anyway, because once again, who would lie about something like that? It's much easier to believe that somehow both Andy and the Caps are right, or that Andy is wrong about having schizophrenia but he himself doesn't know he's wrong, than to believe he's just outright lying about it.

People will always believe Andy, no matter what he says, and even if they personally know better than he does, simply because it's too hard to disbelieve someone who seems so sincere.

Once you can fake sincerity, you've got it made. :-P

Probably a GOOD thing he's way too dysfunctional to go in for politics - we've got enough destructive types in that field as it is.
