continued Thatfucker discussion
Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!
The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.
ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

I wanted to post stuff about this here because I've been worried Andy is going to cons to put out feelers and possibly build up a new cult again.
"Working on a long-term budget, and considering like, actual travel for cons that are worth it. Other than the taken-for-granted VA Comicons, Tidewater Comicon, NekoCon, and Katsucon, what cons would people recommend I do next year? I'm not into anime or comic books at all, and I don't have a specific fandom that's a Must See...I'm really into it 50% for the cosplay and 50% for the community of fellow cosplayers. Specifically, I'm looking for ones that will have me going home with a huge pile of new contacts, feeling like I've learned so much and met so many people who are cool and talented and friendly."

(Anonymous) 2015-06-14 12:24 am (UTC)(link)(Also in my experience cosplayers are pretty big on personal safety and warning others about creepers, since the hobby necessarily involves a lot of irl contact with others. So that should go well for him.)

(Anonymous) 2015-06-14 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)Not even that. No matter what he says, it's clear to me that he's not interested in cosplaying for the sake of cosplaying. The way I see it, cosplay is like art to him: something he has some raw talent for, but isn't willing to actually work on, because he doesn't care about it, but only about how he can use it to impress and recruit people. He never managed to become friends with any good artist on Tumblr, and he'll equally fail to become friends with any good cosplayer at cons, because in both cases it's blatantly obvious to the truly passionate artist/cosplayer that he doesn't give a shit about the craft itself.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-15 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)Most good cosplayers have a love of the characters they are portraying and the media from which that they take them from.
Yes, there are exceptions but fandom and cosplay are linked.
