continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

Re: So, Andy has "watchers" again. Remember when he promised that would never happen again?

If Andy actually had the history he claims, his 'care team' would have told him he's to avoid fandom altogether for exactly this reason. No ifs, no buts, full stop, end of story. It's his trigger, and it's avoidable; they might try aversion therapy for something unavoidable, like grocery shopping, but not for a hobby. I know he and his posse bleat about 'differnces in treatment', but differences in treatment cover things like being allowed to do things that are proven to reduce your chances of a psychotic episode, never to risk psychosis for the sake of hobbies; they just make you change your hobbies to safer ones. He would be told to avoid fandom, and writing, and look for other pastimes. So either he's lying about his history, or he's lying about what they've told him is acceptable.

(And if you're a friend of his, who believes him, and you just happen to be reading this: take it from someone who suffers from psychosis, NOW is when you call the professional help! As soon as the slipping starts, not after he's slipped. It's far easier to treat at this stage than during a full blown episode, and brings a much lower likelihood of a patient accidentally (or purposefully) hurting themselves. If you've accepted the responsibility he's put upon you, then call the professional help now, before he goes over).

I know, right? Like, I've had to completely rearrange my life so as to avoid the major things that set me off, not to mention put strict limits on how much work I do. (I didn't believe my art was real, but I WOULD starve myself to artificially inflate my mood and sense of creativity, which was honestly more dangerous than my psychotic episodes. At least when I was psychotic, all I'd do was stagger around downtown muttering, most of the time.)

I actually can't think of a better example of what NOT to do than the Bucky journals.

-Pretend to be a fictional character, with a declared history of delusions about actually being fictional characters - Check.

-Pretend to be a character pursued by the government, Andy's former "great delusion" - Check.

-Pretend to be a character who behaves violently, when you claim your delusions have led you to abuse people in the past - Check.

-Pretend to be a character involved in military or paramilitary activities, another delusion of Andy's - or wait, was that just a lie? Has Andy ever admitted that both his IRA ties and "100% Irish ancestry" are bullshit? See below:

Honestly, this is like an alcoholic "in recovery" walking into a bar, ordering a bunch of drinks for himself and asking the friends with him to inform him if they think he's relapsing.

I've been put in that position before. It really clarifies to me how terrible this is, and even then the people who did it (I used to be a goddamn magnet for stuff like this) weren't in danger of starting cults!
