Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

Never met him in person, but I don't need to in order to know what you mean. For those who haven't had the displeasure, here's some shining examples of Andy attempting to emote and failing:

And yes, it is pretty awkward to watch him try to emote in a very constructed, scripted manner.

The thing is, he sounds like this person very frequently. He'll say things that are meant to be off-the-cuff but are very obviously rehearsed (if only in his head). It's one the things that gives people the creeps about him, even if they can't articulate why. That, and fact the emotions he expresses are often feigned.

I think I remember Abbey saying that she'd never seen Andy express genuine affection, and I believe her 100%. If you (and I mean a generic "you") are the sort of person who thinks Andy comes off warm and sincere in that video, then you might not see it. If, on the other hand, you've dealt with individuals like Andy who are constantly trying to manipulate other people through lovebombing, you'll probably know exactly what I mean. It's that salesman-y pitch and the firehose of happiness and affection that you need to watch out for. Like, my gut response to that video is, "What the hell is this creep trying to convince me of, and why?"

I'd never seen either of those before. Is it odd in the one where he's talking about DAYD I can simultaneously see how off and inauthentic he is yet can understand why people are drawn to him? He also appears to be surprisingly less physically attractive in video than he does in still photos. I remember seeing photos of him on his Tumblr and thought he was really quite striking albeit in a boyish kind of way, but that effect seems lost once he's talking and moving.

The second video just seems to be trying too hard to give the impression of "I just don't care!" eccentricity but it gives me bad second hand embarrassment.

Yeah, I cringed hard.

I know this is from more than a year ago, but did anyone happen to save a copy of that first video (the one on sendvid)? I wasn't around when it was first posted.

My god, his affect is so flat even as you can see him trying to emote. He's using emotion-words with no apparent feeling behind them. The worst is that moment right around 2:54 where you can actually see him going, "What shape should my mouth be making right now?" And there's a ridiculous amount of head-tilt going on.
