continued Thatfucker discussion

Since we've been kicked off FFA for the week, please feel free to continue the anon discussion here. Apologies if this is a big flop - I've never made a DW community before!

The rules are vaguely the same as they are over on FFA. Please refrain from being too much of an asshole, making personal attacks, posting identifying information or engaging in transfail.

ETA: If there's information you'd like to see archived (journal/blog posts related to Andy, etc.), please dump it here and link to it from the main post for discussing.

Wrock

So TTB mentioned this:

March 2007 - April 2008
Andy drops off the map for a while. He lives with his parents for at least part of this time and they get him into therapy.

Supposedly he is in a rock band that later becomes a wrock (wizard rock) band and one of the members prompts him to read the Harry Potter series. I have yet to find any reference to Andy’s specific role in the band other than that he writes lyrics for them.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like this is another one of Andy's lies. You're shocked, I'm sure.

Most notably:

http://andythanfiction.tumblr.com/post/41878844425/yes-the-whole-thing-is-written-its-part-of-the

Yes, the whole thing is written. It’s part of the wrock album that I’ve been trying to get someone to help me arrange the music for for four years now. I couldn’t at a moment’s notice find where I’d recorded it before, so I just sang it again. Understand that this is Microsoft Sound recorder, acapella, still not quite over the flu, and a shitty non-singer to begin with. But this is the words and the basic melody for “Hey There, Severus”

This doesn't exactly sound like someone who was in a band or had access to musical-type friends.

Without further ado, I present to you "Hey There, Severus", by the genuius voice of a generation "Wrock", aka Andy Blake:

Look out, Top 40.

Mine made it through the first three lines...

Brace for serious cringe, nonny. Serious cringe.

Re: Wrock

I made it through the first syllable.

Is there an incredibly kind and brave soul who would be willing to transcribe the lyrics?

+1

My computer doesn't want to cooperate anyway, so I guess it's not meant to be.

These may or may not be correct, as I don't follow Harry Potter and a lot of the words are kind of muffled:

Oh hey there, Severus
What can you do?
You're facing a rebellion
That's sending you shampoo

Graffiti in the hallways
The revolution grows
But how can we expect you
To see it past your nose?

You thought that you would move on from potion's master
But you don't have a school
You've got a disaster

Tryin' to stop us has you at your wit's end
'Cause your ugly little sidekick
Can't compete with friends

Oh hey there, Severus
What will you do?
We've taken on Alecto
And Amycus too

You know who is breathin' down your back
But we're two steps ahead of you on every attack

Oh hey there, Severus
Professor Snape
You laid the trap
But we made our escape

The room of requirement won't let you in
But we'll be back soon
And the real fun will begin

Oh hey there, Severus
Say goodbye
You know when you've gone
Oh, we're not gonna cry

We're sending you a farewell card
That's sealed with a hex
Avada kedavra
XOXOX

Oh hey there, Severus
Severus snape
Oh hey there, Severus
Severus snape

Listen now, Severus
Severus snape
Oh listen now, Severus
Professor Snape

... "a rebellion that's sending you shampoo" - is that some reference I'm just not getting?

Thanks for this, nonny, btw. Well done on making it through.

Using Brittany's death to try to get a vanity project off the ground. Could he sink any lower.

He tried it with a trip to New Zealand.

If at first you don't succeed, try try again with something more attainable, I guess.

He went on and on in the daydverse LJ about finishing the album as a "tribute" to Brittany, I think.

I just listened and... I wonder what it's like to have no shame? I could never post something like this. Also, I'd have thought the "weaver of word magic" might have woven some better lyrics.

Truly, one of the things that astonishes me most about Andy is the total lack of shame. Both in matters petty and extremely serious. Like.

The pseuicides. Actualfax blaming shit on his evil twin. "Rare Lesbian Paladin". The terrible art. His son, a sparrow. The absolutely embarrassing gushing over Rhys. Relentlessly following Osric Chau around a con. Exploiting the memory of a murdered woman. The false accusations of rape and abuse. Claiming to have fought on BOTH sides of the Troubles. Constantly promoting his mediocre fanfiction. That astonishing Oirish accent. And on and on and on.

The mind boggles.

I have a stepsister like that -- she lies and lies and when you catch her she lies and lies some more to get out of it, or to eventually exhaust you so much you just get tired of trying to find the truth -- and I personally think it's a combination of deep disconnect from reality and a need for any kind of attention, at all. Like "any PR is good PR."

Re: Wrock

(Anonymous) 2015-04-10 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
All of Andy's wrock lyrics are here: http://daydverse.livejournal.com/2011/02/22/

Cringe away.

Also? Not a single comment from Brittany on a single one of those posts. I have yet to find anything from her that had to do with wrock at all--although I haven't looked at every single post, so I may have missed something. And yes, she could have been discussing it in chat or something, but if she was so enthused about this project, I really would have expected to see SOMETHING public. I'm pretty sure this is another instance of Andy exploiting her death to promote a pet project of his and guilt-trip people with talent, musical instruments, and recording equipment into doing all the work for free.

And isn't it interesting that early on he talked about reading HP in the first place because his bandmate wanted to start doing wrock songs--but later it became his thing that he had been trying to do forever but couldn't get anyone to work on it with him.

Putting up with all my flaws
So many more than I once thought
But you don't mind
You're always kind
Such a nice boy

This reminds me so much of what Abbey's written about his "therapy." Ugh.

Re: Wrock

Ugh, he is so fucking SHAMELESS. I know the evidence is out there for all to see and yet it's still somehow shocking to me that he uses her death for his own ends and does it constantly.

It's disgusting. It's unforgivable. Brittany was a real person, and she was fucking murdered. She was not a character in one of his fucked up roleplays. She was a human being with a family and friends and people who loved her; people who are potentionally still being hurt whenever he decides to namedrop her and wants to act like it's because they were starcrossed lovers.

He does not get to invoke her name every time he wants to garner support for his current crazy scheme or draw attention to his latest pet project. He does not get to re-write the person she actually was just because it bolsters his bullshit narrative.

The levels of Not Human that he is approaching here makes my skin crawl.

Re: Wrock

(Anonymous) 2015-04-10 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish someone had thought to ask his hike buddy whether he and Brittany ever had a romantic relationship, as far as he knew. Because the impression I get is that Andy is kind of rewriting history on that.

Not Human

If only. Sadly, humans can be extraordinarily shitty, and often are.
