I think this in particular highlights how much he puts on different facades for different people.

To women in fandoms, he presents himself as a suave macho man, almost trying to be a knight in shining armor so that they will depend on him.

To macho men, he presents himself as a shivering scared kid, because he knows they won't see him as one of their own.

Goes back to that short story he wrote - that one where he blatantly outlined how he manipulated Abbey and other women online.

Just seeing this now, and I just posted almost exactly the same thing above (apologies for that!), but THIS. Connecting that to the little POV sketch about manipulating people online is really insightful-- it's exactly the same!

That little story was the most chilling thing I've ever read. I don't know why it isn't circulated more, as it's the most damning evidence there is of his manipulation, from his own hand.

Is there a link to that somewhere? I'd like to read it.

Yeah, if Army Guy was half as in-control of this clusterfuck as he thinks he is, he miiiiight have done some actual reading and realized that Andy's favorite persona *is* Army Guy, but with a shitty Irish accent.

But of course, if the mark already suspects you're manipulative and sees you as weaselly, better to present yourself as fragile and scared and vulnerable.
