ADHD?

I know it's been a hot minute since anyone posted here, but I thought I'd toss this in here.

It seems we're now blaming all of the lying on ADHD?

It’s one of the holes hardest to dig out of in a world that never forgets or forgives, especially since it’s almost impossible to prove that you’re NOT doing something without becoming sus all over again as Doth Protesteth Too Much. Does anyone else struggle w this/have tips?

"I started two cults while emotionally, sexually, physically, and financially abusing multiple victims, and now people get suspicious when I try to worm my way back into the same types of social circles over and over again, no matter how hard I insist that Things Will Be Different This Time or how many already-stigmatized mental illnesses I hide behind, but I haven't tried ADHD yet. Does anyone else struggle w this/have tips?"

"the tendency of NT ppl to read manipulation into statements meant literally"

When I told people that I had a terminal heart condition, that I was possessed with the souls of fictional characters, or that I had been raised as a child soldier during The Troubles, that wasn't manipulation! That was just neurotypical people reading into my actual literal statements of fact!

Has he given up on claiming schizophrenia?

Pressing X to doubt that Andy actually has ADHD.

It's a pretty trendy diagnosis right now, and he claims to have been worked with by tons of specialists and to have had a huge team of psychiatrists. He would have been diagnosed with it years ago and it would have come up then.

That said, as someone who has it, I actually find lying really stressful. ADHD makes you forgetful and having it means it's hard to remember and maintain all your lies. Andy is very good at this, remembering all kinds of dates and characters and backstories and histories and maintaining those elaborate, intricate lies, sometimes for years. He just wants an excuse and maybe also stimulants.

Here Andy's saying that he was just diagnosed with ADHD, when actually, he's been claiming that diagnosis on and off since early 2013. He never made that big a deal of this particular diagnosis before, and he usually mentioned it in conjunction with his allegedly high IQ. To my knowledge, this is the first time he's attributed his extensive history of lying to ADHD rather than to DID and/or schizophrenia.

As a non-neurotypical person myself, I am well aware that not everyone with a particular diagnosis will have all the same symptoms or behave in the same way; however, I feel it's relevant to mention that I have a sibling, a spouse, and a number of close friends with ADHD and various comorbidities, and not one of them habitually lies.

Now he's digging even deeper into the "it's plagued me since childhood and created situations where it made it more comfortable to lie" thing.

I'm in the same situation, where I have several people in my personal life who have been diagnosed with ADHD, and none of them lie.

In fact, they are really bad at it.

That doesn't mean that folks with it never lie, it's just definitely not a situation I've ever encountered.

"There were other diagnosis along the way but they didn’t last as we probed them or explored medications."

Ok, well, his other """diagnoses""" were his excuse for the hobbits and the lesbian shaman wizard and most of his nonsense. So if he only has ADHD now, how is he explaining that stuff? Like dragging Abby to the Canadian border..?

By the way anons don't forget to use archive.is to archive stuff in case he deletes it

If he's really struggling with ADHD, he should be asking his crack team of therapists for coping strategies. Asking for help from twitter followers is just a means to spin his narrative, gain pity, poop on NT folks and possibly draw in new followers.

I have ADHD. Sometimes I feel like I'm spinning in circles, never staying focused long enough to actually accomplish anything. What I'm not spinning however is LIES. That is not a symptom of ADHD. Nice try, Andy.

OK I wasn't diagnose with ADHD until I was in my 50s (yes I'm old). It never caused me to lie or abuse people. I did have/had a habit of owning up to my mistakes and moving on.

This 'miracle' that he is touting as why he is the way he is seems to me that he is going to make another run at fandom and why we should absolve him for his previous behavior because of his ADHD.

No go.

I don't care how carefully medicated he is, he's TF and will always be TF who hurt people I call friends.

Oh TF. I'd say never change, but the fact that after all these years he's still trying to displace his culpability and insert himself into the role of the victim tells us all just how much he needs to change.
