…was this infamous and badly behaved former BNF in the Harry Potter fandom, by any chance? And was the post hosted by a Journalfen community that was not Fandom Wank?
Ms Scribe? Wow, that takes me back! (And if correct it shows she's got form for inserting herself into fandom drama that doesn't initially involve her.)
Yeah. If she's the same person (and looking back at the Ms Scribe expose, there are MANY similarities), she deliberately inserted herself into two of the most well-known "wanks" in fandom history. Beyond that, when she turned on TB, it was for behavior extremely similar to what she herself had done a decade earlier. How utterly bizarre.
It was definitely her, at least in part. One of the other reasons I believe her on this is because I was adjacent to the Harry Potter fandom during this time, but not personally directly involved. However, my name still appears in a section of the write-up. An outside observer probably would not have included me, since I hadn't done anything of real circumstance in the fandom (and was largely secluded in my Sirius/Remus space from the Harry/Dracos and het shippers at the time.) The only connection I really had to any of the drama was being mutuals on Livejournal with several of the people involved, and friends with some of the others.
But if you were following me at the time, and weren't really involved in HP fandom at all, you might make the assumption that I'd be a name someone would recognize. She was following me then, so I suspect I got included based on that visibility. Just a suspicion, though.
Thread OP here (sorry, I haven't been around the anon memes in years so I forget the right lingo) but yeah, she was (according to her) Charlotte Lennox. I believe she was helped largely by Angua and White Serpent, but don't quote me on that. She framed it as her being an objective observer, I think she was friends with Angua at the time so was second-hand. The Charlotte writing style totally matches the Mina de Malfois style, so I believe it.
And regarding what some of the other anons are saying below you... I'll say, in her defense, the Fandom Wank space was one where we were all pretty actively encouraged to engage in drama, as long as we were "objectively reporting" it and not directly getting involved in it. I imagine she felt perfectly fine about being involved in in the write-up process on those grounds. (Whether or not we think this is the case these days isn't important on those grounds, IMO, just because it was a different climate at that time. Currently, I DO think she was getting involved to be important and part of the drama, but that wouldn't have occurred to me or any of the others in the community at the time because of that environment. I hope I'm making sense.)
Okay, so, confession time... Charlotte Lennox was kind of a personal hero of mine back when that expose came out. I have reread it several times because it's so well done and the subject matter is so fascinating.
I still don't think Necro did anything wrong there. Her expose was grounded in fact, with extensive references to msscribe's own words. Any speculation was clearly labelled (and there wasn't much). In that way, it was very similar to what TB has done with Andy. Which is why I'm so curious about what makes Necro think TB's work has crossed some line.
I'll admit this revelation is far more interesting to me than anything Andy has done since about 2015.

I don't think she did anything "wrong" per se, but I think she was very eager to be a part of it in ways that, later, came off less objective, if that follows. I think the report stands on its own as a relatively unbiased and thorough write-up, aside from whether or not I think she was involved for the "right" reasons.
But you make an excellent point regarding her past and her more recent thoughts on TB. I'd give a lot to ask her about it directly, honestly.
Yeah, that makes sense. I suppose I have some sympathy for Necro as a fellow messy bench who loves drama. Unfortunately, the Andy situation goes a lot deeper than simple "drama," and I'm not here for her two-faced behavior and refusal to believe the word of a rape victim.
To the best of my knowledge, it was a semi-joint effort between them. Carlanime did the writing, Angua supplied research and details. This is just Carlanime told me, however.
Just what carlanime told you? Hmm. I am dubious because I find Charlotte Lennox's style engaging and have never been able to get through anything by mina de malfois -- I even found mina's comments on fandom wank and such tough to plow through.
