Andy's Diagnosis per KQ

Creating a new subthread for this as it's interesting enough to warrant its own discussion (and so that we can avoid armchair psychology when there's already a concrete statement of fact available):

Diagnosed ASPD. I was there. narcissist, ASPD and possibly some aspects of the autism spectrum. Comorbid and causing distorted presentation. I was in the psychiatrist office with him, and after he pulled out the file and read parts of it to me and interrogated me on what I thought of it. Mostly at the time it was me trying to disprove what they said to him - symptoms he doesn't have or presents differently, etc. -KQ

yes, and yet in the last 24 hours he bald-facedly claims he's never been given a diagnosis of either, which directly contradicts KQ's statement. I know who I believe!!

I remember several years ago KQ declining to state the diagnosis Andy was given while she was still with him, but hinted heavily it was narcissim and/or sociopathy. I can't remember exactly where online she said that, if it was here or on her blogs, but it exists in the timeline.

Sounds to me like he's known all along what his actual diagnosis is. Yet it wasn't the sort of thing he could put a good spin on. So he had to find something that would make it difficult to question (or make you look bad questioning it) but also grandiose enough for his inflated ego. It just so happened that the diagnose he picked was hugely misunderstood by most people and often misrepresented in media and popular culture.

SA

I THINK it might've been in the Q&A she did a while back. I'll check later.

Yeah, I know it's in my blog a couple places. But I stopped giving a fuck for that boundary somewhere around when lb-lee did their fantastic breakdown on Andy's fake multiples. In any event, yes, that diagnosis is real. -KQ

Was in thread above and it still mystifies me a bit since he tends to always present as someone who is 'an ally' and supports all popular causes whereas those with ASPD would do precisely opposite. However, presenting yourself in a manner you wish to be seen and imitating any diagnosis you wish is a thing with ASPD as well - usually just to appear 'ordinary' due to various sectioning systems in various countries (but then it tends to be anything that can get you sectioned so anything beyond depression is a game of russian roulette where sometimes you do not get any help unless hospitalised). He does check the boxes of self-importance, feeling as a hero who drive's world's narrative, being subconsciously and deliberately manipulative and so on. But. All of those are mostly due to his conscious choices and him not wishing to change which would be pretty much same regardless of any mental issues.

"However, presenting yourself in a manner you wish to be seen and imitating any diagnosis you wish is a thing with ASPD as well"

well, exactly. I don't think any of us actually believe his professed interest in social justice issues is genuine - he just recognises it's a way he can manipulate others and construct the image of himself he wants others to see. which is classic ASPD behaviour.

Sounds like he was seen by an astute psychologist! ASPD isn't generally a diagnosis handed out lightly. I'm curious about how long the evaluation took, without expecting you to divulge too much, KQ.

(Understandably...no one in healthcare really likes to diagnose someone as an irredeemable bastard who can't be trusted in society).
