Luckily for him, his eyes only look you'd way in photos taken by him. His eyes are mysteriously normal in photos taken and uploaded by other people.

Still into Taliesin from Critical Role, possibly in a concerning way. TB also got an anonymous response from someone else in the fabrication industry who says they have warned friends about Andy and that based on his past actions, he needs to get the fuck out of the industry.

Even without knowing the long and twisted history of this man, I'm instantly bothered that the guy who previously whined that his executive dysfunction/ADHD makes it so impossible for him to get anything done he put his wife in charge of keeping him on track- is even for a second questioning what takes his wife so long to do something (But hey, cute kitten, right?)

Can anyone shed any light on the consensus to call Andy's cults "cults of personality"? This is a strange misuse of the term, which refers to a specific totalitarian tactic: a political regime elevating its leader to mythic status through manipulation of mass media, propaganda machines, the arts, etc. Hitler, Mao, Mussolini, the Kims of North Korea, and Stalin were socially successful - in part - because of the very deliberate cults of personality that they and their propaganda teams built around them. The term was popularized by Khrushchev, who used it to criticize the idolatry of Stalin (which Khrushchev argued was anti-Marxist).
Has the term taken root because people want to stress the fact that Andy's cults are built around his personality - that they are all sustained by his charisma? Because that is just a straight-up cult. The "of personality" is redundant if it's just being used to suggest that Andy's personality plays a big role in how he manipulates people, since all cult leaders do this. No cult leader sits around waiting silently, hoping that people will just assume that he's interesting. My guess is that, short of being used because people don't know what the term means, it's being used colloquially for exaggerated effect, the same way that people might refer to TV commercials as "propaganda" or to a strict person as a "dictator." It just strikes me as a strange use, given that so many AA blogs stress that small inaccuracies are one of Andy's favourite ways to discredit the AA blogs' warnings. KQ here. I think people misuse the term cult of personality when they actually mean secular cult. Most people are only familiar with religious cults.

I’m watching the docuseries “Bad Vegan” on Netflix which is about a successful restaurant owner who married a con artist and the con artist did so many Andy like things it’s insane. He convinced this woman he was part of a spiritual realm, he was always under spiritual attack and that if she persevered through a series of spiritual battles, she (and her dog) would ascend and become immortal. The parallels are chilling. I really recommend watching it! The Andy similarities start in the second episode.

I mean, on the one hand, I've definitely seen lists/flowcharts similar to this going around Tumblr/etc. What's odd to me is 1) making one yourself (why reinvent the wheel?) and 2) breaking it down that... specifically? I mean, we don't know Meg, maybe she really does need things to be this granular, but it feels more controlling for it to be that granular.

I know a truly embarrassing amount about the Andy saga, but I don't have any memory of ever hearing the anecdote about "the intensely creepy Maura-talking-to-Elijah-Wood-in-the-costume-trailer story" that KQ briefly mentions in her "Horse's Mouth and Horse's Ass" blog entry. Has anyone heard this particular anecdote? Or, KQ, if you're still checking this journal and feel up to sharing?
